Grant Activity:
Cudgewa Avenue of Honour Rejuvenation Project
Purpose:
Cudgewas Avenue of Honour is a majestic tree line that runs through the township of Cudgewa. Made up of Elm and Plane trees planted in 1917, it commemorates the districts World War 1 local heroes. During the Black Summer bushfires the Cudgewas Avenue of Honour was in the direct line of the fire front and caught on fire. 37 of the trees suffered severe damage and, on expert advice, need to be replaced. This project will remove 37 fire-damaged Elm trees and replant this section of the avenue of honour.
