Grant Activity:
Community hall upgrades to create a Refuge & Social Hub in Macdonald Valley
Purpose:
This project meets two profound needs of the remote and isolated community of St Albans in the Macdonald Valley which was severely impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires. It will help build a stronger community and support its recovery by upgrades to the local hall creating a local hub that can serve as a refuge/evacuation centre during future bushfires and other emergencies as well as providing an outdoor area for community use, an upgraded kitchen and improved access to make it a more comfortable and appealing space to deliver a broader range of activities throughout the year.
