Purpose:
The Subs in schools competition provides opportunities for students to develop strong understandings of cross curricular links between curriculum areas. In planning, designing and building a remote controlled submarine students work together to source funding, work with industries and develop understanding about project management and working as part of a team. Students have mentors from defence supporting businesses come and work with them on these projects providing critical links between school and what is happening in the workforce. Students are required to develop their skills in communication, teamwork, time management, decision making, leadership, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
