Purpose:
Milpatjunanyi: Contemporary drawing from the APY Lands celebrates the profound importance of drawing in Aṉangu culture. Showcasing 17 artists from the APY art centres, the exhibition includes a diverse range of works – from paintings, works on paper, prints and ceramics to video and installations – that activate the deeply held value of drawing underpinning art-making on the APY Lands. The exhibition will be accompanied by a fully-illustrated publication, including three commissioned texts and artist statements in Pitjantjatjara and English; a First Nations led public program; and a freely accessible digital asset that documents the performative drawing practice of milpatjunanyi.
