Wongam Koala Gully Project
Purpose:
Establish and maintain the Wongam Koala Gully (WKG), a high-quality corridor connecting the koala populations in the Bunyaville and Samford Conservation Parks by removing weeds and planting over 17,000 koala food trees. The project intends to create a Koala Totem with the help of the Traditional Owners and educate the local residents in reducing threats to koalas such as feral animals. It will also use innovative artificial intelligence to analyse the data collected from cameras installed at the WKG connections into the parks. The project aims to develop a methodology to enable the waterways that traverse residential areas to become corridors of choice for migrating wildlife which can be replicated in future programs.
