Purpose:
Tamborine Mountain is ranked the highest bushfire priority hotspot interface zone within the South Coast Bushfire Area Fire Management Group Bushfire Risk Mitigation Plan. The bushland within the Tamborine Mountain western escarpment poses a significant fire risk to the community above. Approximately 4 kilometers of the western escarpment has no access to enable the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and land managers to manage fuel loads or suppress bushfires. This project will construct new fire trails within this section to enable fire management activities. In addition, existing fire trails at the southern and northern ends of the western escarpment will be upgraded to assist the RFS with fire mitigation and response activities.
