Purpose:
The Whitsundays has been impacted by four bushfire events over the past three years. Bushfire Management Planning has been undertaken and some local plans developed to reduce the risk and size of future events through improving infrastructure, training, response and land management practices. This project will engage a Bushfire Management Officer for two years to deliver bushfire planning to residents, develop more plans for vulnerable communities, review and develop the bushfire break maintenance schedule, coordinate training and incorporate traditional owner bushfire management practices.
