Outward Bound (OB) Bushcraft Workshops & Program Development at Tharwa, ACT
Purpose:
OB will transform and equip four old farm sheds to create bushcraft workshops: an indigenous garden shed; a bush kitchen and outdoor dining area; a roping craft workshop; and a mountain bike workshop and training area.
Innovative outdoor adventure learning programs will be developed utilising the workshop facilities. This will enable OB to deliver more programs to schools, young people and community groups, including indigenous and disadvantaged. The programs will build life skills, confidence, resilience, community and leadership, while reconnecting people with the natural environment.
This is a key part of the redevelopment of OB Tharwa to host programs on site, creating a more inclusive and resilient model in the context of bushfires and climate change.
