Know My Name: Australian Women Arts
Purpose:
The National Gallery proposes to tour an exhibition associated with Know My Name (KMN), a gender equity initiative celebrating the major contribution Australian women artists have made to art and culture. Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now, on display in Kamberri/Canberra in 2020–21, brought together more than 500 works, drawn from the National Gallery’s holdings and other collections, to tell a new story of Australian art and upend the assumption that modern and contemporary art is a male-dominated narrative. The tour is drawn from this exhibition and features the work of approximately 70 Australian artists.
