Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants
Grant Activity:
Bring Back Binna Burra Lodge
Purpose:
Since the early 1930s, the iconic Binna Burra Lodge (BBL) has provided services and access for the public into the World Heritage listed Lamington National Park. BBL has been the largest local employer and the heart and soul of the Beech Mountain community, located in the Scenic Rim of the Gold Coast hinterland. It has been a primary economic driver for local family-owned businesses as well as a local, regional, national and international champion of sustainable tourism practices. After the original Lodge was burnt to the ground by bushfire in September 2019, constructing some critical infrastructure that was lost will drive local economic growth and create jobs for the local community - not just at BBL but also for suppliers, producers and local businesses.
