Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants
Grant Activity:
Preparation to Resilience: A collaborative emergency plan incentive project
Purpose:
This project addresses a low completion rate of disaster preparedness plans and concerns around communications failures in 59 bushfire affected localities through direct engagement with the community, working with local leaders, and in collaboration with other agencies. A free, hand-crank portable radio, with a torch and USB charger and document pouch, will be provided on completion of a household plan.
The project enhances social recovery and resilience by bringing communities together. It addresses concerns around communications and fear of future disasters through the development of plans and the provision of radios. The project is a trial that could extend to other communities and is supported by other service providers.
