Operation Wallacea Indonesia Expedition
Purpose:
This project provides opportunity for a group of Year 10 and 11 high school students to participate in conservation research in the Asian Pacific region. The project will immerse students in field work and analysis with international researchers and inspire them to enter STEM careers in the future. Students will spend 1 week on North Buton conducting terrestrial research and attending daily lectures in the jungle camp. They will then spend 1 week on Hoga island learning practical marine data collection and analysis skills as well as attending daily lectures on reef ecology. The project exposes students to a large range of STEM careers and provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire them in this important field of research.
