Purpose:
Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance will work in partnership with government agencies, traditional custodians, local community groups and volunteers to undertake actions to assist with conservation outcomes for koala in NSW North Coast (Coffs Harbour and North Bellingen Areas of Regional Koala Significance (ARKS)). Bush regeneration contractors, indigenous rangers and landcare groups will support the project through weed control and revegetation activities in 54 hectares of koala habitats and linkages. Scent detection dogs will survey 15 locations totalling 75 hectares throughout the project area to collect koala scat material for genetic and genomic analysis. Specialised training and rescue equipment will be provided to support key community members for the triage and care of koalas.
