Purpose:
As a small rural community that has been impacted by two major bushfire emergency events in three years, endured severe drought, major storms, infectious diseases and significant search and rescue operations, the need has never been greater to ensure the community can remain prepared, be able to effectively respond to emergencies, and recover from these devastating events now, and into the future. This project will establish a new Emergency and Rescue Centre in Merriwa, to replace the 60 year-old existing facility that is no longer fit for purpose. This facility will enable coordinated emergency operations, provide space for recovery providers, house rescue responders as well as be a key community engagement hub for resilience building.
