Achieving soil carbon sequestration at a large scale with Hone Red Lab
Purpose:
This project will determine the feasibility of using Hone Red Lab spectroscopy to measure soil carbon in large scale soil carbon projects. It is not typically financially viable to implement CFI projects that are larger than 5000 hectares, particularly where small gains in soil organic carbon are expected. This study will identify how the Hone Lab Red instrument can be used to reduce measurement costs in two large scale soil carbon trial projects, one in rangelands and one in broadacre cropping. In the longer term, this collaboration will unlock barriers to participation resulting in carbon sequestration at scale that is meaningful to Australias commitments under the Paris Agreement.
