Purpose:
This project will reduce the risk of catastrophic bushfires in the Lockyer Valley Region by applying preventative land management actions on specific high risk Council managed land. An Integrated Land Management Plan, and Nature Based Recreation and Tourism Study together with implementing cyclic cultural burning, will lead to social, economic and environmental recovery and resilience of the region. This will be achieved by building relationships through workshops, healing bushfire related mental health issues; demonstrating the economic and climate resilience advantages of cultural burning; enhancing connection to Country, boosting employment and training opportunities, and promoting nature based tourism within South East Queensland.
