Cardiovascular disease and cancer: identifying shared disease pathways and pharmacological management
Purpose:
Recent advances in cancer prevention and management have led to a marked increase in cancer survivors. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has become the leading cause of morbidity and mortality for these people, due to effects of their cancer therapy and shared risk factors between cancer and CVD. We aim to reduce the burden of CVD in cancer patients by developing better, more personalised treatments that can be used both to treat cancer and prevent CVD, and move them closer towards clinical trials.
