Building resilience for bushfire affected communities in Noosa Shire
Purpose:
This project, undertaken by University of Southern Queensland and Zero Emissions Noosa Inc. in partnership with Noosa Council and Noosa EEHub, aims to foster resilience and recovery in bushfire affected communities within Noosa Shire. Battery systems will be installed on two evacuation centres in Noosa Shire to ensure sustained power during times of environmental crisis and to create more physically and psychologically safe experiences for future bushfire evacuees. Stories from evacuees will be gathered to allow their voices to be heard with supportive counselling being offered to those traumatised by the Noosa bushfires. Education offered around the evacuation centres battery systems and bushfire preparedness will promote social recovery.
