Purpose:
The catastrophic fires that impacted Central Queensland in 2018 and 2019 significantly impacted the Rockhampton Region. Debriefs and reviews assisted identifying lessons learned, while the major recovery projects that were initiated provided the Local Disaster Management Group, Council, Fire Management Group, Human Social Recovery Group, agencies and the community with a greater understanding of the risks the Region faces and evidence based actions that now remain to be embedded that will mitigate and assist the community build resilience to withstand future events. The Bushfire Resilience Officer would expeditiously work with stakeholders to progress and embed these recommendations identified into planning and practices.
