Purpose:
The project will repurpose the old Byron Hospital into the Byron Community Hub and support Byron Shires capacity and ability to recover from disasters such as bushfires, extreme weather events and pandemics. When completed, the repurposed and unused infrastructure asset will attract, retain and support the return of community services to build a stronger community that can pivot during disaster response and recovery. Co-locating services in a centralised hub, will improve community resilience through residents being able access wrap-around services such as social services, health and education.
