Grant Activity:
Learning health systems approach to the diagnosis and management of lower respiratory tract infections in children
Purpose:
Chest infections are the most common cause of hospital visits among young children. It can be hard for doctors to tell if a chest infection is caused by bacteria, viruses, or both. Our team will develop a digital tool that can be used in the clinic to help doctors tell which children have bacterial infection and need antibiotics, from the many children who do not. This will reduce unnecessary testing and use of antibiotics and help improve the quality of care for these children.
