Purpose:
Hastings Secondary College in Port Macquarie is sending 18 Biology, Science, STEM, and Marine Studies students to the Lady Elliot Island Reef Education Centre on the Great Barrier Reef to participate in a 4 night Marine Explorers STEM Camp in Semester 2, 2021. The event will provide students with the opportunity to learn and experience the Great Barrier Reef first hand. Students will participate in a range of Citizen Science activities including underwater robotics, a sustainability tour, coral health surveys, marine debris surveys, tour the reef in a glass–bottom boat, learn to snorkel or scuba dive, take a guided reef walk and collect data for their depth studies and Personal Interest Projects.
