Soil Carbon and Methane
Grant Activity:
In-field validation of the Hone Lab Red, a low-cost SOC measurement tool
Purpose:
Hone Carbon and its project partners, Tiverton Agricultural Impact Fund and Silverstrand, are seeking to validate the use case for the Hone Lab Red, a low-cost, portable spectrometer, for the rapid and inexpensive in-field measurement of soil organic carbon (SOC). Australian made, the Hone Lab Red has been extensively tested and validated for accurately measuring SOC under laboratory conditions. Working directly with landholders in northern NSW and central QLD, this feasibility study will enable Hone Carbon to determine the requirements to deploy this new and novel solution for in-field use by landholders and project managers, ultimately advancing progress to the Australian Governments stretch target of measuring SOC at <$3/Ha/yr.
