A national functional diagnostic program for therapy development in congenital muscle disease
Purpose:
Skeletal muscle diseases such as congenital dystrophies/myopathies have one of the highest individual burdens of disease in Australia, with the Disability Adjusted Life Years lost being estimated to be higher than that of cancer and multiple sclerosis. The long term aim of this proposal is to develop an individual treatment pipeline for each child born with congenital muscle disease delivered through a better understanding of the molecular basis of disease and a national clinical consortium.
