Purpose:
The project will install three solar powered, electronic fire danger rating signs in the Inverell LGA. The variable message signs will provide illuminated roadside information 24 hours per day. The three signs will be strategically placed on the highest traffic routes towards high bushfire-risk areas and the more densely populated areas of the shire.
The signs receive instant updates from the NSW Rural Fire Service through the mobile phone network to automatically change the fire danger rating display. This will ensure timely, localised and consistent messaging for the community.
