A mobile and integrated system for accurate in-situ analysis of soil carbon
Purpose:
This project will design a robust and affordable mobile system to enable accurate and low-cost measurement of soil carbon in the field. This project will integrate automated near infrared (NIR) spectrometry (ReSpect 4p FT-NIR) with data storage and electronic transmission, data analyse with chemometrics model analysis and algorisms, and data display with advanced visualisation technologies. The project outcome will include the compatibility of different components in the system, NIR detection limit, best sampling protocol and economic analysis of the system. This will pave the way for next phase research to commercialise this novel system to fill in the gaps in carbon analysis market and enhance our capacity to put more carbon in soil.
