Purpose:
Through the project Sea Forest Limited will develop and assess feed supplement formulations which will deliver methane mitigation from a known quantity of bioactive compounds contained in Asparagopsis oil.
The projects key activities include:
- Fortification and long-term stabilisation of Asparagopsis oil
- Manufacturing of test products containing the oil
- Assessing bioactive stability and efficacy over time, shelf life, maintenance of physical integrity, and chemical properties during manufacture, storage and when exposed to grazing environments
This project will provide the basis of a practical, cost-effective mechanism for controlled delivery of the anti-methanogenic bioactive compounds from Asparagopsis to grazing livestock.
