The purpose of the grant is to support the Australian Science Innovations Incorporated (ASI) to continue delivery of the Australian Science Olympiads grant.

The Australian Science Olympiads program supports the participation of Australia’s most talented science students in a program of enrichment activities and for selected students, participation in the annual International Science Olympiads (excluding the Asian Physics Olympiad).

The Inspiring Australia Science Engagement: Australian Science Olympiads will run over four years from 2024 -25 to 2027-28.

The objectives of the grant are to:

• contribute to the advancement of excellent science education in schools throughout Australia, by enabling students to enrich and extend their knowledge of skills in science
• select student teams from around Australia and support them at the International Science Olympiads
• promote all aspects of the Australian Science Olympiads program in order to build the profile and prestige of science in Australia, particularly amongst diverse cohorts and groups historically under-represented in science, in line with the Government’s commitment to diversity in STEM.

The intended outcomes of the grant are:

• increased participation of Australian students in STEM and science enrichment activities, particularly amongst diverse cohorts and groups historically under-represented in science, in line with the Government’s commitment to diversity in STEM. 
• increased awareness in Australian schools of, and participation in, the Australian Science Olympiads program
• increased Australian student representation in the International Science Olympiads from 2024 to 2028.

The ASI  (ABN 81 731 558 309) has been identified as the appropriate recipient because:

• ASI has been responsible for delivering the Australian Science Olympiads program for over 30 years
• It is the only supplier available with the experience and proven track record in delivering the Australian Science Olympiads program
• the nature of the grant activity is specifically dependent on the expertise, infrastructure and relationships of ASI.
