National Support for Child and Youth Mental Health Program: National Workforce Support in Child Mental Health Initiative
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to allow Emerging Minds to continue the deliver the National Workforce Support in Child Mental Health Initiative, operating as the National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health (the Centre) and to incorporate strategies in response to findings of the formative evaluation and achieve outcomes that are more meaningful.
The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:
- assist clinical and non-clinical professionals and services who work with children to identify, support and refer children at risk of mental health difficulties and to promote resilience building within children;support professionals working with children who would benefit from early intervention, including children who have experienced trauma, children who may be at a high risk of mental health difficulties and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children; and
- support professionals working with parents and guardians of these children with a view to assisting parents and guardians to care effectively for their child.
The intended outcome of the grant opportunity is that children from birth to 12 years of age at heightened risk of mental illness will be able to:
- access health and broader social support services;
- be assisted by professionals who are able to identify early problems and intervene early; and
- have access to services which they are likely to feel comfortable using.
