The Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPS Program) supports people whose mental illness severely affects their ability to function day-to-day and can benefit from support that meets their individual needs.
On 11 May 2021, the Australian Government announced $171.3 million over two years from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2023 for the CPS Program. The CPS Program will support new and existing Commonwealth clients with severe mental illness and associated reduced psychosocial functional capacity, who are not accessing similar supports through services funded by states or territories, or the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Included in the 2021-22 Budget for the continuation of the CPS Program, an additional allocation was included to fund MIFA to continue national advocacy, and providing information and advice.
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to continue to support MIFA in their role to advocate and maintain capability for individuals, experiencing severe mental illness, their families and carers. This grant opportunity will also assist with a national federation of MIFA member organisations.
