Description:

The Australian College of Nursing (via the ACN Foundation) has raised funds to establish scholarships in the names of Lieutenant Colonel Vivian Bullwinkel and her 21 Australian nurse colleagues, who did not survive the Banka Island massacre in 1942.

In the 2022-2023 Budget, the Australian Government committed to one-off funding of up to $1.0 million (GST exclusive) to match the ACN Foundation’s fundraising.

This co-contribution will support registered nurses, who hold a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a range of nursing roles seeking to further their professional development in leadership through 21 individual scholarships of $10,000. Scholarships will be available from the ACN Foundation annually.
