Description:

The 2026 NHMRC-European Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth) Grant Opportunity supports Australian participation and collaboration in transnational research projects through European Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth) Call for Proposals.

The EP BrainHealth offers 2 calls: one in the field of neurological, mental disorders and sensory disorders (EP BrainHealth Call 1) and one in the field of neurodegenerative disorders (EP BrainHealth Call 2).

Eligibility:

Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions.

• Australia-based researchers must submit an application at the full proposal stage to both NHMRC and the EP BrainHealth Secretariat to be considered for 2026 NHMRC-EP BrainHealth funding. A copy of the full proposal as submitted to EP BrainHealth must be included in the 2026 NHMRC-EP BrainHealth application for funding.

• The Chief Investigator A (CIA) and NHMRC Administering Institution must be listed as a research partner on both the pre- and full proposal.

• Applications must meet the eligibility and application requirements of all participating funding organisations from which they are requesting support.

Applications must satisfy all the requirements set out in the 2026 NHMRC-European Partnership for Brain Health Grant Guidelines.

EP BrainHealth has specific eligibility criteria for consortia. Applicants should refer to Section 6 of the EP BrainHealth Call Text for the call to which they are applying.

1-3 years

Total Amount Available (AUD):

$4,000,000.00

Estimated Grant Value (AUD):

From $0.00 to $500,000.00

Instructions for Application Submission:

The application process will be in two stages: pre-proposals and full proposals. At both stages, one joint proposal document shall be prepared by the consortium (in English) and submitted by the coordinator to the EP BrainHealth Joint Call Secretariat.

Australia-based CIs listed as research partners whose consortia have been invited by EP BrainHealth to submit a full proposal will be invited by NHMRC to submit an application to NHMRC. Applications must be submitted electronically using Sapphire (unless otherwise advised by NHMRC).
