Description:

The Australian Nurse-Family Partnership Program (ANFPP) aims to improve pregnancy outcomes by helping women engage in good preventive health practices; supporting parents to improve their child’s health and development; and helping parents develop a vision for their own future, including continuing education and finding work.

The ANFPP is a nurse led home visiting program provided by the same Nurse Home Visitor for the duration of a client’s involvement or until the child reaches two years of age. The ANFPP is a highly structured, evidence-based program modelled on the international Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP). The ANFPP program structure is guided by 14 Core Model Elements (Appendix A) that are utilised as delivery principles for the design and implementation of the program. These are supported by evidence of effectiveness based on research, expert opinion, field lessons, and theoretical rationales.

To ensure consistency in implementing and delivering the ANFPP under the licencing requirements, the department engages an ANFPP National Support Service to ensure the ANFPP suits the Australian context and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families as well as assisting and supporting the Organisations implementing ANFPP.

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to provide organisations with an opportunity to renew ANFPP funding (currently set to expire on 30 June 2022) to provide continuity for organisations to implement and build the program over the next three years until 30 June 2025.

Eligibility:

The department’s decision to run a targeted non-competitive funding round to a small number of potential grant recipients is based on the need to ensure the continuity of services in communities where the ANFPP is currently implemented. The department has previously consulted with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Partnership Forums in each state and territory and have considered areas of need, and the capacity of the organisation to implement this complex program.

Organisations eligible to apply for funding are listed in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines document Section 3.1 Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
