Description:

This grant opportunity was announced as part of the 2023-24 Budget to provide non-infrastructure grants to support the implementation of the National Road Safety Action Plan 2023-25.

This grant opportunity has five focus areas. Please note the opening dates for each area below:

  • Community Education and Awareness
  • Vulnerable Road Users
  • First Nations Road Safety
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Research and Data

The Community Education and Awareness and Vulnerable Road Users streams are now open for Application

Grant funding is available up to 2025-26 and anyone seeking funding or completing road safety activities over the next three years in the areas of community education and awareness and vulnerable road users are encouraged to now apply.

Community Education and Awareness, including workplace road safety (Opens 28 July 2023 - Closes 25 August 2023)

The aim of this focus area is to fund:

  • road safety community education, awareness and collaborative campaigns, programs and initiatives.
  • programs to educate young or disadvantaged drivers in road safety to support them to gain their licence.
  • workplace road safety awareness and education campaigns, programs and initiatives.

Vulnerable Road Users (Opens 28 July 2023 - Closes 25 August 2023)

The aim of this focus area is to fund projects that:

  • promote safe road use and access for all road users including, but not limited to:
    • initiatives focussed on better sharing the road safely with motorcycles, cyclists, micro mobility devices and heavy vehicles.
    • initiatives which focus on pedestrians, especially children, people with a disability and the elderly who are particularly vulnerable to injury or death in a crash.
  • identify and develop vulnerable road user technologies or research.

The next two focus areas, First Nations Road Safety and Technology and Innovation, are expected to open applications later this year - with the fifth and final focus area in Research and Data set to open in early 2024.

Eligibility:

Applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in Section 6 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines. 

Grant Activity Timeframe:

1 to 3 years

Total Amount Available (AUD):

$37,600,000.00

Estimated Grant Value (AUD):

From $20,000.00 to $1,500,000.00

Submit the completed application form and all necessary attachments as listed in Section 8 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines by the closing date and time via email to RoadSafetyActionGrants@infrastructure.gov.au

 

Other Instructions:

Opening dates and application closing dates for each stream will be announced by Ministers and published on www.roadsafety.gov.au.

Applicants should review the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 and the National Road Safety Action Plan 2023-25. These publications provide key information to assist applicants to complete their submission.

  • Do not include links to file sharing services or cloud workspaces
