Community Led Grants

Under the IAS, the Department considers grant proposals that address a need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Proposals must be developed with the target community or group who will be impacted by the activity.
You can discuss an initial proposal with the Department at any time by contacting your local NIAA Regional Network Office, or by calling 1800 079 098.
As of 1 December 2018, the Community Led Grants Application process is changing.
The first step for potential applicants is to contact the local PM&C Regional Network Office to organise a time to discuss the proposed activity. You must also submit an initial proposal form that outlines the proposed activity. You can submit the form before, during or after meeting with the local office. The local office can also assist with completing the form.
Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria outlined in the Indigenous Advancement Strategy Grant Guidelines.
Community groups that may not be eligible to apply for funding are encouraged to consider partnering with an eligible organisation.
After you have received feedback from the Department on your proposal, you can decide whether to submit an application for funding. If you decide to apply, we will give you access to an application form and a unique code. The unique code links your proposal to the application form and is required to submit an application.
You must complete the proposal stage of the process for your application to be considered for funding.
For further information please see the Department’s website here https://www.niaa.gov.au/indigenous-affairs/grants-and-funding/community-led-proposals
Applicants should review the Community Led Grants Application kit, which provides key information to assist applicants to complete the application. It should be read in conjunction with the Indigenous Advancement Strategy Grant Guidelines.
