The Australian Biological Resources Study’s National Taxonomy Research Grant Program - provides grants for research focused on taxonomy and systematics.
Grants are awarded for research projects where the primary aim is to undertake taxonomic or systematics research on the Australian biota. The program also supports projects that build Australian taxonomic capacity.
Eligibility requirements that are applicable to applicants vary depending on the specific grant being applied for. Details of eligibility are found within the program guidelines.
- 19 October 2018 - rounds open to applications.

29 November 2018 (2:00pm AEDT) – rounds close.

Dec 2018-Jan 2019 –applications are assessed and recommendations made to the delegate.

Feb 2019 – delegate approves successful applicants

Feb 2019 – applicants notified of the outcome of their applications.

Feb-Jun 2019 – funding agreements negotiated with successful applicants.
- Jul 2019 – grant funded projects commence.
$415,000.00
From $5,000.00 to $270,000.00
Two parallel grant rounds are available for project applications:
-
Research Grants — this stream provides support to Postdoctoral Fellows or established career researchers to undertake research relevant to the taxonomy or systematics of the Australian biota.

Capacity-Building Grants — this stream focuses on support for training and/or recruitment of taxonomists, especially for research on critical taxonomic groups.
Within each of these rounds a number of specific grant categories can be applied for.
