Australian Nuclear Science Support Program (ANSSP)
The ANSSP - Grant Program (the Grant Program) is a closed, non-competitive grant program that provides financial support to IAEA activities in the peaceful application of nuclear science in the fields of medicine, environmental management and research as well as capacity building in nuclear science, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region.
This Grant Program enables the Australian Government to provide direct financial support to cross-regional IAEA activities, consistent with policy intentions.
The objectives of the Grant Program are:
· To support increased access to nuclear science, in particular in the fields of medicine, environmental management and research, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region
· To support capacity building in nuclear science, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region
The Grant Program supports Outcome 1 of the DFAT Portfolio Budget Statement- the advancement of Australia’s international strategic, security and economic interests including through bilateral, regional and multilateral engagement on Australian Government foreign, trade and international development policy priorities.
The Grant Program will provide $9.5 million dollars (AUD) in funding between 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 to support IAEA activities in the peaceful application of nuclear science in the fields of medicine, food security, environmental management and applied nuclear science research as well as capacity building in the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific.
