Reducing Stillbirth: Stillbirth Education and Awareness
The Reducing Stillbirth: Stillbirth Education and Awareness grant opportunity will contribute to reducing the rate of stillbirth in Australia by targeting education and awareness activities at communities that have a disproportionately high rate of stillbirth. The grant activities will ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women from Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), refugee and migrant groups receive high quality, evidence-based information on stillbirth prevention.
This grant opportunity contributes to the Australian Government’s investment to reduce stillbirth under the National Stillbirth Action and Implementation Plan. The Plan sets targets to reduce stillbirths in Australia by 20 per cent over the next five years (from December 2020 to December 2025) and recognises that, while any pregnancy can result in stillbirth, rates remain higher among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, CALD, migrant and refugee groups, women living in rural and remote Australia, and women younger than 20 years. The Plan includes actions to address these equity gaps and recommends specific and targeted strategies be developed to reduce stillbirth rates among high risk groups.
