Ensuring Provision of Essential Primary Health Care Services in Rural and Remote Australia
This grant program provides expanded and continued support for rural and remote essential primary health services provided by the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) to ensure improved access to critical primary care, dental and mental health services for people living, working and traveling in rural and remote Australia and ensure the sustainability of emergency aeromedical services by the RFDS.
The objective of this grant program is to enable the continued delivery of quality, person-centred, sustainable, effective, efficient, and responsive services to approximately seven million Australians (or 29 percent of the population) who live in rural and remote areas, especially in locations of market failure or areas beyond the normal medical infrastructure, through the delivery of a range of primary healthcare services.
This grant program is funded under the Health portfolio’s Outcome 1: Health Policy, Access, and Support, through Program 1.4: Health Workforce. This is administered by the Department of Health (the Department) to deliver heath workforce outcomes and support rural outreach health services.
