Description:

Smart Farming Partnerships

There are pressures on Australia’s natural resources that can limit the viability and productivity of Australia’s farming, fishery, aquaculture and forestry industries. These industries are looking to trial and implement new and innovative technologies and tools, which will reduce these pressures while increasing their productivity and profitability.

In response to these needs the Australian Government has established the Smart Farming Partnerships grant program under the Smart Farms initiative, an agriculture component of the National Landcare Program (NLP).

Grants will be available for experienced and skilled organisations working in partnership to undertake projects to develop, trial and implement new and innovative tools that support the uptake of sustainable practices across our agricultural, fishing, aquaculture and farm forestry industries. These projects will protect and improve the condition of our important resources of soil, water, plants and animals which underpin productive and profitable primary industries.

Industry implementation of these practices will assist the Australian Government to meet its obligations under international treaties including conventions on climate change, biological diversity and desertification.
