The Australian Government is inviting organisations via a restricted process to apply to deliver services under the program from 2023–24 to 2025–26. 

Increasing Capacity of Crisis Accommodation Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples is a program funding to support urgent attention to increase the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander shelter and accommodation services, especially in regional and remote areas.

The program is designed to centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge, frameworks and responses in the way that services are designed and delivered to better meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with multiple and complex needs.

This program is a measure in the Commonwealth Implementation Plan under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap (Closing the Gap) to achieve Target 13: By 2031, the rate of all forms of family violence and abuse against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children is reduced at least by 50%, as progress towards zero.

Activities under this program will be designed, led, delivered and evaluated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to share decision-making authority with governments and contribute to building the Aboriginal Community Controlled sector.

Assessment of applications - 4 weeks

End date of grant activity - 30 June 2026
