Description:

The purpose of the First Nations Health Infrastructure grant opportunity is to invest in new and/or improved health infrastructure for First Nations people in line with the Australian Government’s commitment to strengthening the First Nations health sector.

Funding under this grant opportunity is available to the organisations identified at Section 4.1 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity include improvements in:

  • access to culturally appropriate First Nations health care services through the availability of safe and accessible, fit-for-purpose, health infrastructure;
  • capacity of the First Nations health sector to provide greater care to assist long-term health improvements in First Nations populations;
  • recruitment and retention of health professionals through the provision of safe and secure clinical staff housing;
  • pathways to the upskilling and recruitment of local entities and individuals to participate in the workforce and increase local employment, including through the construction sector (e.g. labouring and construction project manager services) and the health sector (e.g. health worker and administration roles);
  • system level support to the First Nations health care sector to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of services, consistent with Priority Reform Two under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap - Build the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled sector.

This grant opportunity will contribute to the delivery of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap's Priority Reform Two: Building the Community-Controlled Sector.
