Archived Grant Opportunity View - GO5509
Australian Health Policy Collaboration
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to facilitate the development and delivery of preventive health and chronic disease policy. The grant activity must align with the intent of the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030 (the Strategy), launched on 13 December 2021. The Strategy aims to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians at all stages of life, through a systems-based approach to prevention that addresses the wider determinants of health, reduces health inequities and decreases the overall burden of disease.
The Strategy identifies seven system enablers that are critical to creating a more effective and integrated prevention system for Australia over the next 10 years. The grant activity should incorporate the enablers where possible, in particular the ‘Information and health literacy’ enabler.
The Strategy also identifies seven focus areas that require critical action to reduce the risks of poor health and disease and to help Australians live longer and healthier lives. These focus areas include nutrition, physical activity, tobacco, immunisation, cancer screening, alcohol and other drug use, and mental health. The grant activity should seek to prioritise addressing these policy areas where possible.
All activities should be considered and implemented through a health equity lens.
