Description:

The Australian Government is inviting Care Leavers Australasia Network (CLAN) via a one-off ad hoc process to deliver services under the Families and Communities – National Find and Connect Support Services program for 2 years from 2024–25 to 2025–26.

The purpose of the grant is to assist CLAN in the ongoing operation of the Australian Orphanage Museum (the Museum). The grant contributes to the achievement of the National Museum and Memorial for Victims and Survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse measure of the Department of Social Services Portfolio Budget Statement, Program 2.1 Families and Communities – National Find and Connect Support Services.

Consistent with the National Find and Connect Support Services, the ongoing operation of the Museum aims to improve social outcomes for Forgotten Australians/Care Leavers and Former Child Migrants by assisting them to reconcile with their life stories and restore family relationships where possible, and will contribute to these objectives through acknowledging and commemorating the experiences of those Australians who grew up in orphanages, children’s homes and other institutions and foster care up until 1989.
