Description:

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to deliver national digital screening of new and expecting parents, including fathers and second parents for perinatal mental illness. The grant aims to address gaps in mental health care by delivering a national perinatal mental health screening tool, iCOPE. iCOPE is a digital platform that can be used in public maternity and family care settings (antenatal and postnatal) to screen for symptoms of depression and anxiety, and assess psychological risk factors.

The organisation listed above has been specified to have:

  • capability to deliver the project activities nationally;

The Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) is a leader within the field of national perinatal mental health and have demonstrated the experience and capability to deliver this project, which they have delivered over the last two years. COPE has existing relationships with key stakeholders within the field and will leverage these relationships to promote and improve uptake of the iCOPE screening tool by public healthcare settings in participating jurisdictions. 

  • existing infrastructure and relationships to support the project activities;

COPE has developed the iCOPE screening too and related infrastructure which is currently being used or rolled out by a number of states across Australia as part of this project. COPE has existing relationships with key stakeholders, including jurisdictions and the AIHW which will support project implementation.

  • experience, knowledge and capability to deliver to the project objectives and outcomes.

COPE have demonstrated the experience and capability to deliver this project, which they have delivered over the last two years. COPE has developed a strong reputation in the community as an organisation with a broad perinatal emotional and mental health focus, and is well positioned to direct consumers and health professionals to relevant organisations and services with more specialised areas of focus.
