Square Kilometre Array Project - Australian SKA Regional Centre
The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Project is an international effort to build world-leading radio telescopes. Australia and South Africa are co-hosts of the SKA telescopes. The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is the Intergovernmental Organisation (IGO) that oversees design, construction, and operation of the SKA telescopes, and has its headquarters in the UK. The Australian Government, through the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (the Department), is a member state of the SKAO.
To most effectively utilise the data generated by the SKA telescopes, the SKAO is working with science communities across the world to establish a global network of SKA Regional Centres (SRCs). The SRC network will receive the massive and relatively unprocessed data outputs of the SKA telescopes, produce science data products, and manage SKAO data. Each SRC will be nationally led and will provide separate, but closely co-ordinated, computing and data management capability.
The grantee is the University of Western Australia, ABN 37 882 817 280.
