The National Palliative Care Projects Open Grant Opportunity is an open competitive opportunity (with a total budget of $9.517 million GST exclusive over three years from 2023-24) for projects that can provide national coverage.

The Grant Opportunity focuses on two action areas from the Implementation Plan for the National Palliative Care Strategy 2018 (the Implementation Plan): 

• Action Area One: Access to palliative care is increased, particularly for underserved populations, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/ or people who live in rural and remote locations.

• Action Area Two: The collaboration of services and coordination of palliative care for patients and their carers is improved.

The intended outcome of this grant opportunity is that the provision of high-quality palliative care in Australia is supported through workforce development, quality improvement, data development activities, and advance care planning.
