Description:

The purpose of the grant opportunity is to improve the wellbeing of people with osteoporosis by increasing the availability of evidence-based information and to improve awareness and understanding for people living with osteoporosis, their families and carers, allied health professionals and the wider population.

There are two streams of activity identified under this grant opportunity (applicants can apply for one or more streams):

Stream 1 – Awareness and education with a focus on prevention

Stream 2 – Health Professional education and training

The priorities of the grant opportunity are to:

  • Increase awareness and education with a focus on prevention – increase community awareness and understanding of the importance of bone health and osteoporosis including its risk factors and prevention and be tailored for specific priority population groups, including over 50s, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and people living in rural and remote areas (Stream 1);
  • Increase awareness and education with a focus on prevention - improve health professional access to osteoporosis education and resources, with a focus on allied health professionals, including practice nurses, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists (Stream 2).

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are:

  • Improved awareness and understanding of the importance of bone health and osteoporosis, including its risk factors and prevention, for priority population groups (people over 50, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from CALD backgrounds and people living in rural and remote areas).
  • Increased access to self-management resources for allied health professionals that provide people with osteoporosis with information and skills to enhance their ability to take an active role in their own health care.
Eligibility:

To be eligible you must:

  • have at least 5 years’ experience in developing evidence-based resources, and demonstrated experience in consultation, co-design and tailoring of resources for one or more of the priority populations identified (Stream 1 only);
  • have demonstrated experience in developing evidence-base education resources for health professionals (Stream 2 only);
  • demonstrated experience and appropriate networks in the dissemination of health professional resources (Stream 2 only).

and be one of the following entity types:

  • a company incorporated in Australia;
  • a company incorporated by guarantee;
  • an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust (where you apply as a trustee on behalf of a trust, please apply using the trustee name, not the name of the trust);
  • an incorporated association;
  • a partnership;
  • a joint (consortium) application with a lead organisation;
  • an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006.
Total Amount Available (AUD):

$1,500,000.00

Estimated Grant Value (AUD):

From $500,000.00 to $1,500,000.00
