Description:

The Anex Bulletin supports the professional development of the Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) workforce by providing best practice examples of successful interventions, technical advice on drug use and response, and serves as an early warning system of emerging trends in drug use. It promotes integrated service delivery and provides an opportunity for peer networking, and co-ordinated best practice health promotion.

The Anex Bulletin will be published online every month with the aim of capitalising on technology to reach more NSP workers across Australia. The aim of the Anex Bulletin is to connect substance use research to practical action and supports NSPs and other evidence based-approaches to reduce the impact of BBVs, and drug-related harm. The Anex Bulletin shares information with stakeholders across the sector and acts as an essential information resource for NSP staff, to improve skills, knowledge and service delivery. Ultimately, it contributes to reducing harm and enhancing pathways to treatment for BBVs and problematic drug users. The Anex Bulletin is edited by community-based workers who specialise in this area.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:
• support the NSP workforce by providing practical, leading-edge advice on BBV, emerging issues and responses to drug use; and
• share relevant information with other stakeholders including policy, government, and others including health services.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:
• increase the capacity and capability of NSP workers in the areas of BBV, drug use, and harm minimisation; and
• continue to provide BBV, drug use and harm minimisation information to the broader health community.
