Description:

The Australian Government is inviting organisations via a restricted process to apply to deliver services under the First Action Plan Priorities Fund – National Family, Demestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Training for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities and Faith Leaders at National level from May 2024 to 2026.

The National FDSV Training for CALD Communities and Faith Leaders grant opportunity has $3.157 million (GST exclusive) available over 3 years from 2023–24 to 2025–26.

Faith leaders are generally trusted and authoritative individuals with a broad range of skills and experience. In this context they may be approved to provide advice, intervene and mediate in family violence situations.

Evidence from independent evaluations on existing grant activities shows engaging and training CALD communities and faith leaders to deliver primary prevention is effective in ensuring they are able to respond appropriately to disclosures and refer members of their communities to appropriate services.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are:

  • Provide an innovative approach to improve awareness, knowledge, and responses addressing abuse of CALD women and children.
  • Development and delivery of an evidence based national training package and guidance on FDSV within CALD communities that targets faith based and community leaders to enable leaders to better engage with and foster discussions of FDSV or suspected FDSV in their communities and to facilitate access to FDSV supports.
